King Sealy Posturepedic Mattress - Worst Mattress Ever!!

by Ms. Hawk
(Fort Worth, TX, USA)

I bought a King Sealy Posturepedic mattress set on January 27, 2011 from Dillard’s. (over $1200.00) The reason I purchased from Dillard’s is the sales associate told me if there was a problem with the mattress Dillard’s would handle everything with Sealy and I would not be involved. All I would need to do is contact Dillard’s. (The Warranty card I received with the mattress said warranty was good for 10 years) In less than 90 days the mattress sagged on the right side and in the middle and had over 1.5 inch body impressions. On April 18, 2011, I called Dillard’s and they were not very helpful and told me they would send me some paperwork to be filled out and they would forward to Sealy, Inc. (I guess that’s what they mean when they say they will take care of it for you.) I received the paperwork on May 19, 2011 and I filled out with the necessary information and took all the required pictures and sent them in. On June 22, 2011, an independent contractor of Sealy, Inc contacted me and scheduled a time to come to my home and inspect and take more pictures. He said Sealy would contact me in two weeks. I had not slept on the bed since March because it was so uncomfortable it hurt my back. I received a letter from Sealy, Inc on July 9, 2011, which stated, We have a limited warranty policy and strive to be as fair as possible with our warranty claims. Based on the in-home inspection the technician noted that the impressions found to exist on your bedding are 1.25 inch deep, which is not considered to be a manufacturing defect, but rather indicates that the product is properly conforming to your body’s contour as designed. Our warranty states that the impressions would have to be greater than 1.5 inch deep in order for the mattress to be considered defective and to be replaced. Body impressions are a normal occurrence with any mattress regardless of brand or construction.
This is the absolute WORST mattress I have ever owned and I do not think it is normal wear and tear for a mattress to have body impressions like this after less than 90 days of use. I can’t imagine what it will look like after a year or two. I will never buy another Sealy product.
